Queries regarding George Christopher Loy (to America 1732) and descendants.
Queries regarding Matthias Loy (to America 1733) and descendants.
Queries regarding these two immigrants and descendants. Earlier researchers have placed the Frederick Co., VA Loys as descended from John Heinrich Loy, who came to America 1733 on same ship as John George (Hans Jurich) Loy. A few decades ago, a descendant had brought up reasonable evidence that the Frederick Co., VA Loys may be descended instead from Johannes Loy (to America 1740). Due to this, I'm putting both immigrants in the same forum, so people can compare notes of both immigrants.
Queries regarding Martin Loy (to America 1741) and descendants.
Vetta (Loy) Johnson, daughter of George Tate Loy (grandson of Martin Loy's son George), had once written in a letter of her father having met descendants of George and Anna Maria (Loy) Sharp when he was a boy. She knew that they were related, and theorized that Anna Maria [or Anna Marie] Loy was daughter of Martin Loy, despite family tradition that his daughter Mary had married George Foust. However, Anna Maria's children's and grandchildren's ages seem to be in the same generation as that of Martin Loy's children and grandchildren. Noah Loy, born 4 years after Vetta, descended from Martin's son John. From what he had learned through family tradition, Martin Loy had a brother-in-law named "Sharpe." It's been my theory that Anna Maria [a/k/a Anna Marie] (Loy) Sharp was Martin's sister. Her husband was named in Augusta Co., VA records with adjoining land to Martin Loy, showing connection even in the 1750s.
